this is a tough one

As you get older, more and more of the people who either know personally or via media start to pass away. And with them, you realize and you’re edging closer to the end of the run. As 2015 closed one, one in particular stood out -Wayne Rogers. He played Trapper John on M*A*S*H from ’72-’75 (the first 3 seasons – and arguably the best of the bunch – it got too preachy after awhile). In junior high school my buddy Lloyd Gottschalk was Hawkeye and I was Trapper, and we spent most of lunch cracking wise and generally driving vice-principal McArthur crazy. Since I was raised by TV, especially on Tuesday nights when my dad would go to Carlsbad for city-council meetings, the characters on those shows (MASH, BoB Newhart (the original one), Mary Tyler Moore – they all were my “family” of sorts. And just like your actual family, at some point they start passing away, signally another signpost up ahead. Hopefully not the twilight zone…yet…
