You weren't going to be using those fingers anyway...
The lamp cord was a nice touch...
Still like the bullet above the kneecap though...show's that you really care enough to send the best.
The 24 jag continues. And if you're locked in front of the tv for hours on end during a Friday night by yourself (S is still in Europe), then you might as well practice your manual of arms and do a little cleaning.
Remember: the smell of nitro is the smell of clean...
Well, last night I had options. It's nice to have options. But first the work part of things. I've had a paper I've been working on for the last 6 months or so, co-written with jsb. It has been hanging over my head, and I kept putting it off. Well, an actual deadline came, so I finally hunkered down at Peets and summoned my muse. And finished it. Before closing. So I had a free evening (psychologically at least). I ran into Larry (sifu) near Peets, and mentioned that I might come to class tonight. I've been taking time off from kung fu to try and rehabilitate my hip and knees. I started taking tai chi as I thought it would be easier on my body, and I've been wanting to find a good tai chi class anyway.
Well, back to Tai Chi class after missing last wednesday due to travel and monday due to holiday. We started the Tai Chi sword form. Tonight was slow, mostly learning the stances that will be used and a couple of parts of the first section of the form. I've never been a huge weapons guy...in kung fu we used a shinai for the "stick form" and that was fine, but there also is a nunchaku form, and I don't really like chucks. I kinda wish I was working on Yang 24 but I suppose I'll have to do that on my own...which is what I should be doing anyway.

Well, practice doesn't make perfect, but it does make it better. Even if I was dead tired when practicing. Hmm...maybe another adjective would be better...
One of my "jobs" is to keep up on things. You know...stuff. One of the areas of interest is games, as they are not only huge (eclipsing films in revenue), but also may be our last great hope for education and training in an increasingly competitive global marketplace.
But in this case, the game is the battle, and the battle is the game. Battlefield 2 fro EA is pretty amazing. Yes, the graphics are realistic and there are tons of cool things to shoot and blow up. But perhaps the "killer app" part of this is playing on the network with other live (soon to be virtually dead) people.
What is it that they say...you can never be too rich, too thin, or have too much ammo. In this case, 9mm 124g FMJ from Lancer
Apologies to Keanu. Or condolences. Or not. Anywho, another afternoon kung fu class today. For those following along, I've been in this particular school/style almost 1.5 years now. The good part is I enjoy it and it keeps me in shape. The bad part is it points out how crappy my body is. Both rotator cuffs damaged, bad lower body flexibility, etc. You cannot stop aging. The only takehome lesson I can find is to try and have a bit more compassion for myself, allow myself to not be "110%" all the time, and just do what I can, when I can. Of course taking myself out of the game or giving myself a break is totally counter to the way I was raised, and the ways that I have devised to deal with life.
Sometimes you have to unlearn so you can learn. As the Zen riddle goes, you must empty your cup before you can get more tea...
