In response, Space Policy Directive &#8211; 3<a href=\"applewebdata:\/\/D702C121-C641-414D-BF3D-DA7BE8CE2B1E#_ftn1\"><sup>[1]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0directed the development of a Space Traffic Management (STM) capability<a href=\"applewebdata:\/\/D702C121-C641-414D-BF3D-DA7BE8CE2B1E#_ftn2\"><sup>[2]<\/sup><\/a>. The Department of Commerce is leading this effort<a href=\"applewebdata:\/\/D702C121-C641-414D-BF3D-DA7BE8CE2B1E#_ftn3\"><sup>[3]<\/sup><\/a>. The 18th Space Control Squadron currently provides collision avoidance notifications to satellite operators to facilitate the responsible use of space. The 18th SCS services are provided free to U.S. satellite operators<a href=\"applewebdata:\/\/D702C121-C641-414D-BF3D-DA7BE8CE2B1E#_ftn4\"><sup>[4]<\/sup><\/a>\u00a0as well as international satellite operators.
