In particular, <a href=\"https:\/\/cbsaustin.com\/news\/local\/use-of-fax-machines-by-austin-labs-blamed-for-long-wait-times-for-coronavirus-test-results\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">CBS Austin<\/a> reports that many testing labs in Texas fax their results to the public health agency, despite there being a mandate for digital reporting. This analog method adds extra time to the test-report cycle since results need to be entered by hand from the paper faxes. The Austin public health officials say there often is a 7-10 day lag between testing and contacting patients who test positive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As society continues to grapple with the myriad impacts of Covid-19 to daily life, it has served as a magnifying glass onto certain parts of society that have for one reason or another, not kept up with technological innovations.
