that's stiff
Leather that is. Ridiculously stiff. Painfully stiff. Hmm...wonder how long it'll take to break in.

Wow, they are sore. Knees that is. Standing up for 3 hours with a bass around my neck didn't help. But it doesn't stop me from creating new words. Like limatory. Pergabo. Tortless. And hopetured. I think I need to make a movie.
no cakes (apologies to Spinal Tap)

make art
Sounds simple enough. And in fact, it is simple enough. The tough part is silencing the inner critic that says, "it isn't good enough," or, "that isn't art." All that deep diving was great for fixing the blame, but lousy at fixing the problem. I suppose that's what the art is for.
I'm fixing a hole where the rain gets in
and stops my mind from wandering
where it will go
I'm filling the cracks that ran though the door
and kept my mind from wandering
where it will go
don't take ambien before recording youtube videos...

A festive bbq in Highland Park with the boy in tow. Turns out he like candles. Well, perhaps fire is closer to the mark. I grok that. Actually all went well until the swing incident but boys will be boys...
Arggh. I think that new pillows are on the "need" list. To add to the right scapula back thing (which needs ice), now is the left side neck thing (which should have head). I'm yin/yang to the extreme. And standing for 3 hours with a bass strapped around my neck didn't help. Plus the electronics are dying in my beloved Zon. Arggh.
funny what happens when you walk on the opposite side of the alley...

hopefully it isn't all down the drain...could contracting take any longer?!?

no, not me...the car battery. The Audi went, "click" today. So much for taking the boy to the quarterly "social" at work...
Turns out it isn't as easy to get a new car battery as you'd think. First off there is the issue of traveling to get it...at least I have a motorcycle but that isn't the best hauling tool. Then you have to know what "group number" or some such nonsense. The guy at Pep Boys claimed that his computer didn't have the information - "too new." OK, you don't have info on an '06 car. Super. So it is off to the dealer. Well, first walk to school to pick up the boy, then on the way back stop at the dealer (luckily 4 blocks from my apt) to get the battery. But it turns out that parts is a mile away. Thankfully the guy takes pity on me and says they'll run the battery up to the service shop. So I walk the boy home then walk back with a fabric grocery bag to carry the battery home. Turns out that lead is heavy. Who knew?
After sorting out all the stupid plastic stuff surrounding the battery, viola, it starts. Of course now some warning lights won't go out...sassy!
Down to San Diego to buy dad dinner for an early Father's Day. Took over 6 hours of driving. Sometimes I hate SoCal...
There is no perfect anything...there is no perfect anything...there is no perfect anything...
4 hours of rehearsal tonight for two different (though overlapping) situations. My hand hurts...

ever have a 3 hour flu bug?
weird...
If you have a few minutes, this thread has a pretty amusing story about a guy who's car was booted by local private parking nazis (hired by his HOA). Scroll about halfway down the page for some recaps of the story. Ahh, the power and glory of the web...
George Carlin, 71, passed away today at St. Johns Hospital in Santa Monica (right down the street from me) from heart failure. I true icon, especially for my generation, his work even made it to the SCOTUS. God speed George (yes, I know he was an athiest...he'd get the irony though). And just to show that you changed the world, the seven dirty words you can't say on tv, but can say on a blog:
shit, piss, fuck, cunt, cocksucker, motherfucker, and tits
rip
We never did find out what the occasion was, but the gaggle of girls and smattering of guys were certainly celebrating something at West tonight. If only I could have heard/understood half of what the guy was telling me...damn background music. At any rate, party on Garth...
In Venice. Hotter than Hades, but the water was close and any chance to play live is a good one.
though actually my throat feels like this

A few shots of last night. Did I mention it was/is hot?

A 25th anniversary party with live music. Hey, I know that guy...

Deja vu all over again, as it is back to a project I last saw about a year ago. Some different players, some of the same players, and some of the original ideas seem to be making a comeback. Funny how that happens...
When in doubt, play more music

Another opening reception, and surprisingly enough, actually three different galleries within walking distance in Highland Park. Who knew? The new westside? I hope not...
But interesting to go to an opening where most of the crowd are artists...and then to hear them critique various bits and pieces. I have to say that there was some great stuff (ST as usual), some interesting things (flying nuns), some BS, and of course, some pretentiousness. Where would we be without the null set? Egad...
and boy is it pissed...
more youtubery. Watch out for the late nights...
