I usually don't do the sightseeing thing, but it seemed silly to fly all the way to DC for work and not at least go see *something*. Of course it helped that writer colleague Bob called me up at 11am or so (est) and said he was heading into town. So we took the Metro into DC, had some lunch at a random place in the city, and walked a loop from the White House to the Wahington Monument. Had a quick conversation with a Secret Service officer outside the WH. I noticed his Sig and asked it it was a p229 (it was). Turns out they are chambered in 357Sig as there was a problem some time back with a perp getting filled with a clip of 9mm and he was still running. But he said if things get really sticky they just call they heavy hitters stationed in various places with sniper rifles, etc. Fun, eh?
