Kismet is an odd thing. I have to oversee a redesign of our webspace at work, so I've been looking for design firms. I'm pretty picky, having done web stuff since '95, and I have my own thoughts on aesthetic and approach. So while sorting through various "best of" lists and whatnot I happened on a company called Farenheit, and really liked their work. So I start the dance of talking about design, quotes, etc. Great conversation, and I'm really hitting it off with their creative director.
So today I need to get some example print materials in advance of a meeting on monday. I call and ask if they've got anything, and Dylan says that she can get stuff together...do I want to pick it up or should they messenger. I thought they were in Santa Monica, but it turns out that they are located near Olympic and Beverly Glen. Hmm...so I get the address. Exactly 8 houses away from my old house. Crazy. I make the drive, meet Dylan and Bob, and we totally "get" each other. She was a musician, he was a luthier and architect. Sympatico. Before I realize it I have to jump on a conference call, so I excuse myself with the print materials in-hand. But not before we talk restaurants, metaphysics, tube amps, and agree to do dinner at some point to continue the conversation. I think I found some new friends. Cool...
