That's what the trip home was...uneventful. Some time slacking in the lounge at the Peking Airport, then a rather smooth flight from PEK to SFO, with about 4 or so hours sleep to be had. Then clearing customs in SF, a short (but completely full) flight down to LAX. Sat next to a United pilot who works out of SFO but lives in Thousand Oaks. Now *that's* a commute. Then a ridiculously long wait for my bag, then a cab home.

At that point I was going to hop in the car and pick up Calvin...but when I walked to the car is was filthy. And not just dirt...turns out I parked under a Jacaranda tree. So in addition to the ticket (which I expected), the car was covered in tree sap and dirt. So much so that I couldn't roll down the driver's side window. Seriously. It was stuck shut. So it was off to the car wash near Peets (well, that's convenient). The guy looked at the car and shook his head. I'm afraid a $12 car wash wasn't going to do it. Needed steam cleaning of the window areas and serious scrubbing of the tree sap. He started off with the $150 detail (umm...no), but said that he really couldn't do it for less than $70, as he'd have to have 2 guys work on it for about a half hour. So I ponied up the dough, because I didn't have the energy, nor the steam cleaner. *sigh*.
Then home to open bills. *sigh* Now to pay them...
