burn pile

I didn't write this, but wish I did. I'll be playing with Sam Wheadon (who did write it) and Odd the Dumb Boy next Wednesday. About time I got back in the saddle. Better late than lever.

i'm selling happy futures in the sunshine of my life
i live in pleasant takers with my children and my wife
i reap the rewards of sacrifice and prayer
and the weasels in the basement they mostly stay down there

i seek my soul salvation and i'm stepping on my brother, wait there's more
i lent an old friend my revolver, and he robbed a liquor store
the brown acid plant next door lets off funny colored steam
i'm the captain of the acid plant's winning softball team

like a light on the water dancing in the wake of the boat going down on the edge of the lake your smile
takes me back to the night dancing around the burn pile

my wife looks like a model with a smile like sugarcane
we've got an arrangement and a love like freezing rain
my son bob's a genius he's my favorite and he's always been
took my crippled daughter to the seashore, then we pushed her in

like a light on the water dancing inthe wake of the boat going down on the edge of the lake your smile
takes me back to the night dancing around the burn pile
