war pigs

Funny the things you learn sometimes. I had grown up hearing the Black Sabbath song, "War Pigs," and always assumed it was an anti-war tune (which it is). Little did I know that war pigs are actual things though. Turns out that they are an early example of unconventional warfare practiced over 2K years ago. When armies used to use elephants as an offensive weapon, opponents would grease a pig and light it on fire while herding it towards the elephants. The pachyderms would freak out at the sight and sound of the pig, and take off. There also was mention of incendiary monkeys in China. The things that war fosters...
