bringing it

Unlike the last few gigs, a club date with a 30 minute time slot. This time with the IDC funk band, and going on at 8:30. By contrast, the jazz/sad bastard gigs (with Sam) are very low stress, and usually very long - easily go 4 hours of playing. The PIF gigs are a little tighter at usually a 75 minute set or so, but again very low stress and no competition - just playing for an appreciative audience.

Tonight though - have 30 minutes to make your mark, and there are other bands following. Maybe it is wrong of me, but in these cases my goal is to go for the throat and make it so that the other bands can't really follow you. And we pretty much did just that. No messing around, no long breaks between songs, and we cranked it out. They told us "one more song" when we had 4 more, so we picked the last tune, finished it, and the crowd wanted more. So on to the encore, and really go in for the kill. Fun times...
