Ok, I did the experiment but gave up. I don’t have very many viewing requirements, but a few are deal-killers. Have to have my F1 and be able to tape it. The races watched after the fact are emergency insomnia treatment. And despite the kitsch of most Food Network content – it is my kitsch. So after a few days I waved the white flag and added Fios TV back. Luckily it is painless – they send a new router and box within a day (no charge) though it did take some time on the phone with support to get the router sorted (wouldn’t renew the IP address lease from the old box). But viola, back to “live” TV and manage to shave about $75/mo off the old setup. Better than a kick in the head. From a philosophical standpoint I found that I actually don’t like “unlimited” choice. Having been raised by TV, I find channel surfing to be soothing. Having to actively seek content on Hulu or Netflix is…well, active. Channel surfing with DVR is semi-active (while watching live TV is more passive). That middle ground is where I shall remain…
