remember these nights…

In 2013 near the end of the F1 season, Sebastien Vettel got on the radio after winning the USGP and said, “we have to remember these days…there is no guarantee they’ll last forever.” Of course we know that nothing last forever (except the earth and sky, according to Kansas). And so I found myself thinking the same thing after last night’s gig at Panini. We always have a good time there every 3rd week, mostly because of the loyal audience who really loves the music and the band. But all groups have on and off nights, and last night was on with a capital “O”. Special guests sitting in on flute and trombone helped to bring the crowd to their feet, but the rhythm section was cranking a notch above typical. While the recordings live on (I record every gig), that doesn’t quite capture the energy and the essence of performing live. One could argue that any night spent playing live music for people is special and that is true. But some nights are more special than others…
